We pick the profile that matches the AV system on the bid, apply it during staging, and the switch is ready for that specific AV traffic type. We commission the AV system on top of a network that already speaks its language.
For pure Pro AV rooms, Netgear AV-Line is the most pragmatic choice: cheaper than Cisco Catalyst, more AV-aware out of the box than Aruba CX, and far more capable for multicast than Ubiquiti UniFi. For security-heavy networks or full SD-WAN we still use Fortinet or SonicWall on the firewall side, with Netgear handling the LAN and AV closet switching.
Yes. M4250 and M4350 are available in PoE+ (30W/port) and PoE++ (60W and 90W/port) variants with large total power budgets, which is enough to run PTZ cameras, ceiling array microphones, WiFi 6 and 6E APs, and SDVoE encoders simultaneously. We size the PoE budget during the design phase so the switch is not oversubscribed.
