Linux-native Orchid Core, Fusion and Hybrid VMS deployments across Atlanta, Augusta, Savannah and the Southeast.

IPConfigure Orchid VMS, Designed and Installed by JB Technologies

JB Technologies is an authorized IPConfigure integrator serving Atlanta, the wider Georgia metro and the Southeast United States. We design, install, commission and support the full Orchid Video Management Software lineup, including Orchid Core VMS, Orchid Fusion VMS and Orchid Hybrid VMS. Our team handles everything from camera selection and server build to ONVIF discovery, recording policy, user roles, federation across sites and long-term firmware management. Whether you operate a single 12-camera clinic in Sandy Springs or a 30-site retail portfolio anchored in Buckhead and replicated across the Cumberland and Perimeter submarkets, our IPConfigure deployments are built to scale with your camera count and your IT footprint, not against them.

Why JB Technologies Carries IPConfigure

The video surveillance market is crowded with cloud-only platforms that demand a perpetual per-channel license. IPConfigure takes a different posture. Orchid Core VMS is open source at its base, runs natively on Ubuntu LTS, RHEL or CentOS server, and supports up to 24 cameras per server instance with no per-channel license required. That alone resets the total cost of ownership conversation for mid-size camera plants. For organizations that need to federate dozens of recording servers under a single management pane, Orchid Fusion VMS extends Core with role-based access control, multi-server search and unlimited camera scaling. And when an on-premises customer wants the option to archive evidence offsite without re-architecting their network, Orchid Hybrid VMS keeps the recorder local and shadows critical clips to Orchid Cloud.

We chose IPConfigure as a strategic partner because it solves real problems for the customers we serve every day: hospitals with HIPAA-conscious on-prem requirements, K-12 districts with hard budget ceilings, and retail and logistics operators with multi-site portfolios who need fast clip review without a cloud bandwidth tax. IPConfigure is also one of the few VMS platforms that takes ONVIF Profile S and Profile T seriously, which means we can pair Orchid with Axis, Hanwha, Bosch, Hikvision, Dahua, Vivotek and other ONVIF-compliant camera lines without forcing the customer onto a single-vendor camera ecosystem.

The Orchid Product Lineup

Orchid Core VMS

Orchid Core is the foundation. It is a Linux-native, browser-accessible VMS that records up to 24 cameras per server with no per-channel license. There is a free open-source tier, which is often the right call for pilots, edge sites or back-of-house cameras at a small storefront. Core uses standard IP and ONVIF for camera discovery, supports H.264 and H.265, and streams direct from the camera to the client in most workflows so the server is not decoding every frame. We typically deploy Core on Ubuntu LTS hardware sized to the camera count, retention window and resolution mix, and we tune the recording policy per camera rather than per server.

Orchid Fusion VMS

Fusion is the federation layer. It sits above one or many Orchid Core servers and presents a unified search, live view and user management experience across the entire camera plant. Fusion is the right tool for a multi-site retailer, a school district running one recorder per campus, or a hospital system with separate recording domains for the main tower, an outpatient clinic and a parking deck. Fusion adds role-based access control, which lets the security director see everything, the campus principal see only their building, and a vendor see only the cameras in a specific corridor for a defined window. There is no per-camera license cap on Fusion, so it grows with the customer.

Orchid Hybrid VMS

Hybrid is the answer for customers who want most of their footage to live on premises but need a small cloud safety net for critical events. The on-prem recorder behaves the same as Orchid Core. The cloud component, Orchid Cloud, holds a shadow copy of selected clips and provides remote review without requiring a VPN into the customer network. For sites with thin internet pipes, Hybrid is often the right balance: it keeps high-resolution recording local while still allowing remote evidence pulls.

Vertical Fit

Healthcare. Atlanta-area hospitals and outpatient networks frequently land on Orchid because the on-prem architecture aligns with HIPAA risk posture and the per-server license model is friendly to large camera counts at predictable cost. We have commissioned Orchid in clinical office buildings, ambulatory surgery centers and behavioral health facilities across the Pill Hill corridor in Sandy Springs and inside Emory satellite facilities in Decatur.

K-12 and higher education. School districts have hard ceilings on annual operating cost and almost no tolerance for license-renewal surprises. Orchid Core with district-level Fusion federation lets a district stand up a per-campus recorder, federate to a single admin pane, and avoid the trap of cloud-only VMS where camera count and retention drive the bill.

Retail and multi-site commercial. Multi-site portfolios in the Cumberland, Perimeter and Buckhead submarkets benefit from Orchid Fusion's federation. Each store keeps its own recorder, the loss-prevention team gets unified search, and the cloud bandwidth bill stays sane.

Logistics and industrial. Warehouse and distribution operators around Savannah's port logistics corridor and Augusta's industrial base use Orchid for dock-door coverage, yard surveillance and inventory transfer review. Linux-native servers fit into existing IT footprints without dragging in a separate appliance line.

JBT Capabilities

Our IPConfigure work covers the full lifecycle. We start with a site walk and design phase, where we map camera coverage against the floor plan, confirm the cabling path, size the recorder and decide between Core, Fusion and Hybrid. We handle low-voltage cabling, PoE switch design, server build, OS hardening, Orchid software install and licensing, camera commissioning, ONVIF integration testing, user role configuration, retention policy tuning and operator training. After go-live, we support the system with documented runbooks, firmware updates, retention audits and on-call response.

ONVIF Camera Flexibility, Why It Matters

One of the most common reasons customers come to us already half-decided on Orchid is camera flexibility. Cloud-only VMS platforms typically require the customer to buy the VMS vendor's own cameras. That is a fine model for a greenfield deployment, but it is a tax on every customer who has inherited a mixed-vendor camera plant through acquisition, renovation or piecemeal expansion. Orchid is built on ONVIF Profile S and Profile T, which means it commissions cleanly against Axis, Hanwha, Bosch, Hikvision, Dahua, Vivotek and most other ONVIF-compliant camera lines without forcing rip-and-replace. For a hospital that has standardized on Axis in clinical corridors but inherited Hanwha at a recently acquired ambulatory facility, that single fact often determines the VMS choice.

Server Sizing and Day-Two Operations

Server sizing matters more than most customers expect. We typically deploy Orchid on commodity Linux hardware sized for the camera count, target frame rate, resolution mix and retention window. A 24-camera Core deployment at 1080p with 30 days of retention has very different storage and CPU needs than a 200-camera Fusion-federated plant at 4K with 90 days of retention. JBT sizes the recorder against the actual camera plant, not against a generic spec sheet, and we document the sizing assumptions so that the customer's IT team understands how to grow the system as the camera plant expands.

Day-two operations are equally important. We provide documented runbooks for firmware updates, retention audits, user-role reviews and on-call response. Customers who already run Orchid and need a knowledgeable integrator to take over support are welcome to bring us in on a transition basis, where we audit the existing deployment, document the gaps and stabilize the system before assuming long-term support.
