TD52 intercom

The TD52 is the mid-tier Verkada video intercom. It is the right fit for tenant entries, after-hours office doors, side entries and any opening where the operator needs to verify a visitor by video and unlock the door from a phone. JB Technologies specifies TD52 intercoms when the customer wants a full video intercom experience without the premium feature set of the TD53.

TD53 intercom

The TD53 is the premium Verkada intercom with video calling to multiple staff phones, advanced visitor video and a more capable camera. It is the right fit for staffed lobbies, premium multi-tenant office buildings, multifamily front doors that need a strong tenant experience and any opening where the customer wants the highest-tier visitor video and ring-routing options.

Common Verkada intercom deployment patterns

JB Technologies designs Verkada intercoms around the building's visitor traffic, not a generic template. For multi-tenant office buildings, the typical pattern places a TD53 at the main visitor entry routed to a property-management answering group during business hours and a TD52 at after-hours side entries routed to building security. For multifamily, a TD53 at the main door routes to individual residents through the Verkada app with an after-hours fallback to property management. For professional offices, a TD52 at the front entry routes to the reception desk during business hours and to a designated on-call group after hours. For schools, a TD52 or TD53 at every controlled exterior entry routes to the main office during the school day with a documented call flow for after-hours athletic and community events.

Mounting, wiring and visitor experience

A Verkada intercom only works as well as it is mounted. JB Technologies designs the mount height, the surface orientation and the lighting to deliver a clean visitor video frame day and night. We pull a single Cat6 cable from the IDF to the intercom, terminate to TIA standards, and power through a Verkada-listed PoE switch. We also coordinate with the door hardware so the unlock command from inside the intercom call drives the same electric strike or maglock that the rest of the Verkada access control deployment uses. The visitor experience and the operator experience are designed together rather than treated as separate problems.

How the intercom call flow works

A visitor presses the call button on the TD52 or TD53. The intercom rings designated staff phones through the Verkada app and rings designated desk extensions or PSTN numbers if configured. Staff answer on a phone, see and talk to the visitor, and can unlock the integrated Verkada access control door from inside the call. The same event is logged in Verkada Command alongside camera footage and access events for that opening. The customer gets one investigation trail across visitor video, access control and the camera that watched the door.

Integration with Verkada access control

JB Technologies pairs every Verkada intercom with the customer's Verkada access control hardware so that the unlock command from inside the intercom call uses the same audited credential path as a normal access event. We design door hardware, request-to-exit devices and door position switches alongside the intercom on the same project, so the close-out package documents one complete access opening rather than two separate vendors' worth of work.

Mobile answer, scheduling and after-hours behavior

The Verkada app receives intercom calls on staff phones during configured schedules. Outside scheduled hours the call can ring an after-hours answering group, route to a property-management on-call number or play a recorded message that directs the visitor to the next-day call window. JB Technologies sets up the scheduling and routing during commissioning, walks the customer's operations lead through the configuration, and documents the call-flow design in the close-out package.
