Why ButterflyMX is the standard for new Georgia multifamily
JB Technologies is an authorized ButterflyMX installer focused on multifamily properties across Georgia. For new podium and high-rise construction along the Atlanta BeltLine, in Sandy Springs, around Alpharetta, and in mid-rise infill submarkets like Smyrna and Decatur, the ButterflyMX Video Intercom has become the default specification for one reason: it removes hardware from the resident's apartment entirely. There is no in-unit handset to install, maintain, replace when a resident damages it, or rip out at move-out. The entire system lives at the lobby panel and on each resident's phone.
That simplification has consequences across the entire building lifecycle. During construction, the electrical and low-voltage scopes shrink because you are not pulling phone cable to every unit. During lease-up, your property manager provisions residents inside Yardi or RealPage and ButterflyMX picks the data up automatically through its integration. During day-to-day operations, residents get a video call on their phone whenever a visitor presses their name at the panel, and they can grant access from anywhere, sitting on the couch, at the office, or in another state on vacation. At move-out, you revoke the credential in the property management system and the resident's access disappears.
What we install
A full ButterflyMX multifamily deployment typically includes:
- ButterflyMX Video Intercom panel at each main entry, secondary entry, and parking garage gate. The panel is a glass-front touchscreen with a directory of every resident in the building, a video camera, and a microphone and speaker for two-way audio.
- ButterflyMX Smart Locks on amenity spaces (gym, mailroom, package room, pool, garage, business center, cowork lounge). Each lock connects to the same cloud platform that runs the video intercom, so residents use one mobile credential across the entire building.
- ButterflyMX Package Room for shared parcel delivery. The package room uses a programmable smart lock plus camera so couriers can drop off packages without buzzing the front desk, and residents pick them up with their phone.
- Front Desk Station for buildings staffed with a concierge, doorman, or leasing-office attendant. The tablet-based station gives front-desk staff visitor management, package check-in, and resident lookup in one interface.
- Mobile app credentialing for every resident. ButterflyMX uses smartphone-based credentials over Bluetooth and the cellular network. There are no fobs or cards to issue, lose, or recover at move-out.
Property management platform integration
ButterflyMX integrates with Yardi, RealPage, Entrata, and AppFolio, which between them cover the overwhelming majority of Class-A and Class-B multifamily in Georgia. JBT configures the integration during commissioning so residents in your property management system flow automatically into ButterflyMX. When a lease begins, the resident appears in the directory and receives their mobile credential by email. When a lease ends, access is revoked at the same moment the unit is marked vacant. This eliminates the manual provisioning step that breaks down at scale.
Installation scope in a Georgia multifamily building
A typical JBT scope for a 200-unit multifamily building includes:
- Lobby and secondary entry video intercom panels, mounted at ADA height with weather-appropriate enclosures for exterior installations
- Category cabling from each panel back to the building's IDF or main MDF
- Network commissioning: ButterflyMX panels need internet connectivity, and we configure VLAN, DHCP reservation, and remote access through the building's network gear
- Cellular failover where rooftop or basement signal is reliable, ensuring the panel stays online during ISP outages
- Smart lock installation on amenity spaces and package rooms
- Front Desk Station setup at the concierge, including printer and ID scanner integration if specified
- Property management system integration testing with the on-site leasing team
- Resident onboarding documentation and a hand-off walkthrough with the property manager
Why owners and operators choose JBT
JB Technologies has been deploying low-voltage systems in Atlanta and across the Southeast for over twenty years. We hold the appropriate Georgia low-voltage licensing, carry the insurance multifamily developers and management companies require, and have working relationships with the major general contractors building in the metro. For ButterflyMX specifically, we run a tight commissioning checklist so that on day one of lease-up, the panel is online, the directory matches Yardi or RealPage, every amenity smart lock pairs to the correct mobile credential, and the leasing team knows how to provision new residents without calling support.
If you are designing a new multifamily project in Georgia or retrofitting an existing community, call JBT at (770) 637-2094 or visit jbtecknologies.com/partners/butterflymx for the brand hub. We will walk the site, propose a scope, and coordinate with your GC and property management platform from kickoff through go-live.
