ERCES / BDA / DAS

Florida ERCES & Public Safety DAS Contractor

Florida enforces in-building public safety radio coverage under the Florida Building Code, which incorporates NFPA 1 and the International Fire Code requirements for ERCES. The Florida State Fire Marshal and local AHJs enforce Section 510 equivalents on new commercial construction, high-rise residential, healthcare facilities, and qualifying renovations across the state — with CO withheld for non-compliant buildings.

JB Technologies has completed ERCES projects in Tampa, Jacksonville, and Miami, and we maintain active crews across the Florida peninsula. Whether you're building a high-rise in downtown Miami, a hospital campus in Tampa, or an industrial complex near Jacksonville's port, we deliver the full ERCES scope. See our ERCES service page.

Florida ERCES Compliance — Building Code Enforcement

Florida Building Code NFPA 1 / IFC 510 P25 Phase II

Florida's major AHJs — Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, Hillsborough County Fire Rescue, Jacksonville Fire and Rescue, and Orlando Fire Department — each have specific documentation requirements for ERCES acceptance. JB Technologies has navigated these jurisdictions, providing RF surveys, system designs, P25 BDA installations, and CO sign-off documentation. We also handle the unique challenges Florida buildings present: underground parking, hurricane-resistant construction, and high-rise concrete cores that attenuate radio signals.

  • RF surveys and signal attenuation analysis for concrete high-rise and healthcare
  • P25 Phase I & II BDA design, installation, and commissioning
  • Miami-Dade, Hillsborough, Duval, Orange County AHJ submittal experience
  • Passive DAS for parking structures, retail podiums, and large floor plates
  • Annual recertification and 24/7 monitoring contracts

Integrated Low Voltage & Security

Florida's hospitality boom, healthcare expansion, and high-rise construction also generate strong demand for structured cabling, access control, CCTV, and AV — JB Technologies delivers these alongside ERCES as an integrated scope.

  • Cat6A & fiber for high-rise, hospitality, and healthcare facilities
  • Access control for hotel portfolios, condominiums, and healthcare campuses
  • CCTV, LPR, and perimeter security for resort, retail, and industrial
  • AV integration for conference centers, hotel event spaces, and command centers
  • High-density Wi-Fi for resorts, convention centers, and multifamily

P25 Phase II in Florida: SLERS-2

Florida is mid-cutover from EDACS to SLERS-2 right now — the panhandle phase finished in April 2026, and the rest of the state cuts over by July 1, 2026. Every commercial building with an existing ERCES will need to be re-tuned, re-tested, and re-signed-off against the new P25 Phase II frequencies as each phase lands. We design dual-band BDAs where the cutover schedule demands it and coordinate the AHJ-witnessed retest. Note for procurement and code documents: ERCES and ERRCS (Emergency Responder Radio Communication System) refer to the same in-building public-safety radio enhancement system. ERCES is the term used by the 2025 NFPA 1225 standard and most current model-code references; ERRCS is the legacy term still used in many AHJ contractor packets, procurement specs, and existing-building documentation. JBT works to whichever term your AHJ uses.

What state does Florida use for P25 public safety radio?

Florida uses SLERS-2 (Statewide Law Enforcement Radio System), operated by the Florida DMS. SLERS-2 is mid-cutover from EDACS to P25 Phase II via a 4-phase rollout, with the panhandle phase complete in April 2026 and full statewide cutover scheduled for July 1, 2026.

My building was built before SLERS-2 — does it need a new ERCES?

Probably yes. EDACS-era BDAs do not pass clean signal on the SLERS-2 P25 Phase II channel plan. We re-test the building against the live SLERS-2 frequencies, identify the failed grid points, and design the BDA retune (or, in some cases, replacement) to restore AHJ pass.

Which AHJs in Florida do you work with?

Hillsborough County (Tampa), Orange County (Orlando), Miami-Dade, Collier County, and the major coastal AHJs. Each has its own grid spec and ERCES contractor packet — we work each AHJ's packet at design time so the witness test isn't the first time the AHJ sees the design.

Do I need a Florida electrical license to do this work?

JB Technologies coordinates with FL-licensed local sub-partners on installs in Florida; our role is the design, project management, AHJ coordination, and grid test execution alongside the installing partner where required by local rules.
